Mark Marquez and Mike Mercurio provided an update on the current Active, Pending, and Sold residential property listings, and year-over-year comparisons from August 2020 and 2021.
REALTOR® SAFETY - Tad Anderson, Mortgage Loan Originator with HomePlus Mortgage, and Freestyle Martial Arts Instructor
Tad Anderson provided information on ways REALTORS® can stay safe in scenarios that include open houses, private showings, one-on-one meetings, etc. He also discussed the best options to protect oneself in regard to basic self-defense, such as striking the eyes, throat, groin or knee, and to be as loud as possible to draw attention from neighbors or bystanders nearby.
John Torvi presented on cyber security and the various types of cybercrime to watch out for, including ransomware, data breach and wire fraud/social engineering.
He informed the group that there is about $400 billion in losses estimated annually due to wire fraud, and this year about $6 trillion in global losses from cybercrime.
Torvi added that 68% of funds lost to cybercrime and wire fraud are unrecoverable and that there has been a estimated 200-400% increase in cybercrime since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
ASSOCIATION UPDATE - Carla Farley, 2021 SDAR President
Carla Farley provided an update on the class offerings through SDAR for REALTOR® Safety Month.
"Practice Safe Real Estate" kits are still available to our members, as well as curbside pickup or delivery services for purchases made from the SDAR store.
