Over the past several years, Sentrilock has consistently communicated our intent to deprecate the SentriCard®. Today, I am writing to confirm that the final deprecation will take effect on March 31, 2024.
What Does This Mean for You?
Once the SentriCard® is deprecated, users will no longer be able to utilize their SentriCard® with lockboxes. This includes not only Association Administrators but also lockbox ownership assistant cards. Additionally, all non-BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) lockboxes currently in the field as of March 31, 2024, will be frozen in time with respect to their settings. While these non-BLE lockboxes will continue to function with MAC codes and can still be assigned to listings, they can no longer be managed via the SentriCard®.
Why Are SentriCards® Being Deprecated?
Our decision to deprecate SentriCards® is driven by several factors:
- Industry-Wide Challenges: Acquiring key components for smart cards has become increasingly difficult across the industry.
- Feature Limitations: We have encountered limitations in developing new, highly desirable features that can work seamlessly with smart cards.
- Customer Migration: Customers are naturally gravitating toward the superior Bluetooth® connectivity and app-only environment.
